Memorable Moment: Ty the Giant Schnauzer Wins…
For those who follow dog competitions, Ty the Giant Schnauzer has been something of a household name since he won the Working Group competition at Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in 2018.
Ty is the call name of GCH CH Ingebar’s Tynan Dances With Wildflowers, a black Giant Schnauzer bred by Maryann Bisceglia and co-owned by Bisceglia with Sandra Nordstrom and Carol Mann.
Ty entered the Westminster competition as the top ranked dog of all breeds in American for 2017, a distinction awarded by Dog News Magazine based on the number of dogs Ty defeated in competitions that year.
Handling Ty the Giant Schnauzer at the WKC show was Katie Bernardin, who appears in a post-competition interview with an elated Ty near the end of our video clip.
Ty wasn’t quite finished with his victory in the Working Group at the WKC Dog Show 2018. Although he eventually finished a close 2nd in the Best of Show competition, losing to Flynn the Bichon Frise, Ty still claimed the event’s Reserve Best in Show prize, an impressive achievement in its own right.
